its been a while since i posted a portrait! dillon can hate on this all he wants but i think my exact words when i looked at the back of the camera were, "oh my gosh look how attractive you are!?" God created some gems thats for sure, and i know them all.

Portraits | Self, Tara and Jane | Light Study

you might remember a while back i went a little crazy in my basement and set up a studio with stacks of books and desk lamps. i don't get to play around with photography much anymore. life has been keeping me busy!

so i spent a whole day in my basement, trying different things, playing around with different things, learning a little about light. can i tell you how much fun i had?! i was in giggles fits all day because it was that much fun.

and when i say a whole day, i do mean a whole day.

i started with self portraits, (i don't do these much because i feel so conceded.) i felt like as an artist i should at least try to experiment with these. i actually did a lot and think they turned out pretty neat. next i got tara down there and that was really fun to work with a model!

we also had a pretty good playlist going on and i think that helped with posing. by the time we got jane to the basement my friend noah (who has a pretty neat blog he just launched here!) was there and took over the camera. so i think the shots we have of jane were all taken by him.

i love that i have creative friends who love doing this stuff with me. i would highly recommend trying this out! i think i learned a lot about angles and shadows just by messing around! let me know if you try because i want to see your work!

Saturday Adventures | Spring Picnic

a while back we were having one of those days where i literally craved being outside. all day i wanted to be hiking but too much of the day was spent on other things. i asked tara if she wanted to go for a picnic for dinner and she agreed right away! we called noah and colleen, everyone packed random things for dinner and we headed out to a park i recently discovered. (there are rolling hills that a perfect for eating on.)

we had a great time spreading out our blankets and laughing at the things we brought, (noah brought swissrolls to share.) after that tara and i sang a song and noah recorded it, (we may or may not have lost that...oops.) but it was a lot of fun even through our mess ups.

after we were done eating we packed our stuff in the car and walked around for a little adventuring in the golden hour.

such a beautiful virginia day. such a good memory for the memory bank.

happy saturday (and happy graduation day to many of my dear friends!) make it count.

Saturday adventures | Leftovers

not for lack of adventure, but for lack of time in going through photos. i can't wait to share my lynchstock photos with you but as i have told many people, i truly haven't even looked at them. life is heading in the direction of crazy and this week has felt like the back of a roller coaster train when the front has already gone over the big hill/drop. i can feel i'm being sucked into full speed and there is nothing to do but hold, scream and close my eyes.

but all in a good way!

i am excited about this next month of life. it will be good and i am very sure i am going to learn so much in my professional life as well as my personal life. its going to be a fantastic growing experience.

i saved a few of these photos from the end of donut day adventure. we ended that adventure by going crazy on the top of an empty parking garage. jumping and all the necessary craziness to prepare for our drive home. i believe in the nanny world we call that, "getting your wiggles out." sounds a little creepy when you're talking about grownups. i should remember never to say that again. remembering that day still makes me laugh. what a great time and a super adventure.
