Foodie | Lets Talk about Donuts
6/6/14
did you know that today is national donut day? this week actually has a lot of weird holidays in it, one being hug your cat day. what cat owner in their right mind would try to hug their cat?
no one. not a single one because cat owners know.
anyway, today, the sixth of june, is national donut day! i have been looking forward to this holiday for about a month and i mean, i am going to celebrate. there are free donuts places. i think probably we should bring our friends donuts as gifts, and maybe, if you have donut apparel, you should wear it.
i thought we could celebrate this day together here on the internet world by sharing about our favorite donuts in life! i know its hard to pick, but here are my top two.
1. believe it or not my all time favorite donut is an apple fritter. so not even a donut...but it sits with the rest of the donuts on the shelf and who am i to discriminate? let the fritter be a donut! isn't that politically correct? (alllll kidding.) but i do love them. they remind me of autumn, my favorite season, they are sweet but not crazy sweet, and sometimes they are rolled in cinnamon and sugar. which i would like to be rolled in as well so theres that.
apple fritters are perfect for breakfast and they go great with coffee! or if you're not a coffee drinker then they go great with milk! and also whats wrong with you coffee is delicious.
2. is really any kind of cake donut. sometimes they are called "yeast raised" which to me sounds terrible but they are so, so good. i prefer chocolate cake ones but i have had some weird flavored cake donuts and loved them all.
cake donuts are easy to make! all you need is a donut pan and some recipes and boom. donuts.
whatever your favorite, make sure you eat one today. celebrate this wonderful thing on your taste buds and make sure you use the hashtag so i can see all the pretty donuts.
or doughnuts...whichever you prefer.
Saturday Adventures | on a Tuesday
5/23/14
farmville. it just sounds so good. i needed to see it. i've actually needed to see it for about five years now and when my friend tessa and i were trying to figure out our adventure day together, i just knew this is what we should do.
i was actually so surprised with just how neat of a little town this was. i could have spent way more time there exploring and trying the food. not to mention i found out that tessa is a fantastic partner to have on such a day. we walked around, found a sweet shop, poked around an antique store and even found the worlds largest leather seller. (okay not really but it was four floors of it and it was awesome.) i bought a sign from some amish and we ate our lunch at one of the cutest cafe's i've ever been to.
and that sandwich though...
also i dream about that potato salad and that is worth the trip to farmville itself.
we actually ended the day back in lynchburg where i took tessa to try her first taste of coffee ever. yes thats right i said ever. i do not know how she made it through four years of college without coffee but she did and thats pretty neat. you can decide if you think she liked it or not. . .
enjoy your adventure today whatever it may be. enjoy your coffee, enjoy your laundry, and as always, enjoy your saturday,
and make it count.

Foodie | Taco Shark | Lynchstock Part II
remember when i told you about lynchstock last week? well aside from all the great music and fun, the best part for me was the tacos. well actually the tacos rival all of that but lets pretend i liked the music and fun better.
like i have said many, many times before tacos are my love language. they are so delicious and i can't get enough. the ones from taco shark did not disappoint either! i had the bbq ones but i tried my friends sweet potato tacos and they were also amazing. (also noah ate at the bbq truck and that was pretty awesome too.)
this really was the first day i felt summer feelings. i looked around at the circle of friends in the grass, old and new, munching on tacos and laughing. and i think that might be what food trucks are really about. they might not know it, but they make you feel that summertime feeling. they make you feel like a kid when you sit on the ground and drip sauce down your elbows.
and so thank you taco shark and food trucks everywhere. for the good food and good feelings where beautiful moments are had.
