then i had one of those ideas that i get sometimes.
when i get one of those ideas i pretty much have to do it right then and there, to see if it works. so i headed to my favorite goodwill and started my search. my idea was this, i love those big floral dresses they have at the gw, but i am not about to wear something that isn't flattering. that would just be stupid and way to hipster. so i found a couple dresses, took them home, and set to making them into blouses.
its actually very simple! i've always loved to sew, and i can turn some pretty ugly duds into really cute gems. all you have to do, (if they have no sleeves,) is shorten them into the right length. (you can just measure on a shirt you have with the right length. if it has sleeves you sometimes have to shorten, or take them off. always take out the shoulder pads please! and that is pretty much it. i use a whip stitch on the bottom so it stays flowy. if you are going to try this make sure you pick good flowy fabrics to try on, but nothing stretchy. that would be very tricky to sew. here are a couple pictures of the process!
^^this was the first one i finished so i used it to measure the others.
^^ like i said up there, when i get an idea, i do it right away. i'm still in my pajamas. don't judge my bead head.
^^special thanks to tara for the snaps!
i promise i will show you the final results soon! i love the way they turned out! if you decide to try this, please let me know! i want to see them!
happy thirfting!
I am horrible at sewing, but otherwise, the dress would have turned out beautiful!
